Sylvanvale welcomes the Governor of New South Wales

Sylvanvale was honoured to host a luncheon in honour of The Governor of New South Wales, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, to thank Her Excellency for serving as Patron of Sylvanvale Foundation.

Her Excellency has been Sylvanvale Foundation’s Patron since 2001 and during this time our organsiation has gone through a period of exciting growth and diversification in the support we provide for people with an intellectual disability.

It was an opportunity to showcase some of our amazing clients for The Governor, who witnessed:

  • performances from the Sylvantones choir and the Sylvanbeats drumming group
  • a Jiu-Jitsu exhibition from Sylvanvale clients Graham, Mark and Victor
  • interviews with Sylvanvale clients Louise and Emma

a heartwarming speech from long time Sylvanvale supporter Anita Arnold about the challenges and rewards of raising children with a disability and how Sylvanvale has developed over the last six decades.

The Governor was joined at Club Central Menai by Sutherland Shire Deputy Mayor Tom Croucher, Club Central President Bernie Holdsworth and Sylvanvale Chairman Lorna Stone. Club Central is a major supporter of Sylvanvale and we thank them for their hospitality and their support of our In-Home Respite Service.

Sylvanvale thanks Her Excellency for attending and her ongoing support of our organisation and we wish her all the best in her remaining months as Governor of New South Wales.
