Sylvanvale’s Birdcage Café in Engadine has undergone an exciting revamp, including the appointment of new members to its catering team, the launch of a new menu and extended opening hours.
Birdcage Café is profit-for-purpose business open to the public, founded by Sylvanvale – a leading disability services provider that offers services throughout the greater Sydney region. At Birdcage Café, experienced hospitality staff work side by side with people with an intellectual disability. Funds raised from the café’s proceeds go to supporting people with disability to live, work and participate in the community as they choose.
Jonathan Gleeson has recently been appointed Head Chef at Birdcage Café. Jonathan comes with a wealth of restaurant experience – most recently as breakfast and lunch chef at Zimzala in Cronulla.
The new menu at Birdcage Café contains a broad selection of delicious and reasonably priced breakfast and lunch selections, including kids’ meals. The family-friendly café includes an old-fashioned lolly trolley and toys to amuse children. The café is currently offering grand opening specials, available until 29 September 2017.
The Café’s kitchen has also undergone a recent upgrade following a $32,033 Community Building Partnership Program Grant awarded in December 2016.
Cathy Quinn, Executive General Manager – Customer and Community Relations at Sylvanvale, said: “We are so excited about our recent revamp of Birdcage Café. It’s a very special café which connects people from all parts of the community, offers employment opportunities and raises funds for people with disability.”
“Jonathan Gleeson’s menu is delicious and our old-fashioned lolly trolley is the dream of kids young and old! On top of that, when you come along and support Birdcage Café you are supporting people with disability.”
Birdcage Café is located at 35A Waratah Road, Engadine. Its opening hours are Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 5pm. It’s the perfect place for team lunches – for groups of 6 or more, bookings are essential. Call 02 9520 0355 to make your booking today!
Sylvanvale Foundation was established in 1947 when a group of parents united to form an organisation that would give their children with a disability a better quality of life through access to education and social inclusion. Today we support over 750 children and adults from a range of cultural backgrounds across Sydney and the Blue Mountains to live and participate in their community, as they choose.
