Mikarie Child Care Centre One of Australia’s Best Early Childhood Education Services

Sylvanvale’s Mikarie Child Care Centre has been recognised as one of Australia’s top early childhood education services, having been announced as a finalist in the Building Inclusion category of 2018 HESTA Early Childhood Education & Care Awards.

Mikarie Child Care Centre is an inclusive long day care centre that provides early education and quality care for children with and without disability in one setting. All children enjoy a high quality early learning curriculum that also encourages them to understand that all children are equal regardless of ability.

The HESTA Early Childhood Education & Care Awards recognise early childhood educators, carers and services who demonstrate outstanding dedication to practice improvement and development, leading to enhanced learning outcomes for children. Winners will be announced at the Awards dinner in Sydney on 21 September 2018. They will share money from a $30,000 prize pool, generously donated by ME Bank – the bank for you, which is a longstanding Awards sponsor.

Leanne Fretten, Sylvanvale’s Chief Executive Officer, said: “We are very excited that Mikarie Child Care Centre has been shortlisted for this prestigious award. I am very proud of the centre and our fantastic staff who work there. It’s wonderful to see them recognised for the great work they do.”

“Mikarie’s inclusive approach means that children develop in a high quality education setting that encourages acceptance and belonging, is responsive to individual needs and respectful of diversity. It benefits all children and contributes to building the foundations of an inclusive society,” said Leanne.

About Sylvanvale

Sylvanvale Foundation was formed in 1947 when a group of parents united to form an organisation that would give their children with a disability a better quality of life through access to education and social inclusion. Today we support over 750 children and adults with intellectual disability from a range of cultural backgrounds across Sydney and the Blue Mountains to live and participate in their community, as they choose.
