As COVID-19 numbers in NSW began to escalate in September 2021, Sylvanvale launched additional internal initiatives to help keep the people we support, our staff, and the community, safe. They included:
- Holding regular COVID-19 updates for staff. During each session, Sylvanvale’s CEO, Leanne Fretten, filled staff in on current COVID requirements and restrictions and answered any questions they had. The updates supplemented Sylvanvale’s ongoing COVID-19 communications and comprehensive safety protocols.
- Initiating a Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) competition for staff. As part of the competition, staff were encouraged to post photos of their team demonstrating the correct use of PPE on our internal Workplace from Meta social media platform, using the hashtag #ppeandme. The competition ran over three weeks, with a $100 gift card going to the site with the most posts each week.
- Developing a series of internal videos in which staff explained who they wear their PPE correctly for. In the powerful videos, staff shared their very personal reasons for wearing their PPE correctly each day. They included wanting to protect a vulnerable person unable to be vaccinated for medical reasons; calming the fears of loved-ones; and protecting young family members.
Mandatory Vaccination Policy
Sylvanvale has recently introduced a policy mandating vaccinations for all staff. This was instigated before the comparable public health order was put in place. All Sylvanvale staff have now been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
