As a disability service provider, Sylvanvale plays a critically important role in keeping some of the most vulnerable members of our community safe and supported to live the life they choose.
Because of the importance of the vaccination in reducing the risks and disruption posed by COVID-19, in recent months we launched two key vaccination initiatives.
Starting in July 2021, and continuing in August, we offered onsite vaccination hubs at Sylvanvale locations in the Sutherland Shire, Blue Mountains, western Sydney and south west Sydney.
Our hubs were a great success, with over 700 people with disability, their support workers and carers being vaccinated against COVID-19 at the onsite hubs. As well as being available for all Sylvanvale staff and participants, the hubs were opened up to a number of other local disability service providers.
One of the many benefits of the hubs was that they offered a less overwhelming environment for people with disability to receive their vaccine.
The hubs were part of a collaboration between Sylvanvale and the federal government’s vaccine provider, Healthcare Australia. We are grateful to the Federal Government and Healthcare Australia for giving us the opportunity to have the hubs at our sites.
Vaccination Incentive Program
In August 2021, we launched a Vaccination Incentive program to recognise the important contribution our staff make when they get vaccinated, and to enable us to monitor vaccination rates across our organisation.
Under the program, once a Sylvanvale employee has received both doses of the vaccination and provided us with their full vaccination certificate, we send them a $50 EFTPOS gift card.
“Sylvanvale has been working hard to reduce the risks posed by COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic last year. Safety is one of our organisational values and a key priority for us.” – Leanne Fretten Sylvanvale Chief Executive Officer
