Sylvanvale Rezoning Update

We’re excited to announce that Sylvanvale have submitted a Proposal to Sutherland Shire Council to subdivide and rezone the land which our Head Office currently occupies at 2 Mikarie Place, Kirrawee.


While Sylvanvale will continue to own and operate Mikarie Child Care Centre, we are seeking approval to sell the land where Head Office sits for residential housing development. Sylvanvale will not build houses on this site, as the nature of the landscape presents significant accessibility challenges for the people we support and their support networks.


We have worked with consultants to present a concept design to the Council. The design details the potential use of our land if it were sub-divided and rezoned for residential housing. If we’re able to sell the land, the proceeds of the sale will be channelled into two projects:

1. The building of new Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) homes, which will be designed in partnership with the people we support, families and staff;

2. The acquisition of a new head office in the Sutherland Shire, with better access for people with a disability, (including visitors and employees with a disability), and members of the community.


We are in the initial stages of this Planning Proposal, and will keep you updated about our progress over the next 12-18 months. When it comes time to considering our designs for SDA housing and office space, our project team will draw on the experience of the people we support and families to help inform our thinking.
