What do support workers do?
Disability support worker jobs help people with disabilities achieve the goals in their National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) plan, to help them gain independence and feel part of their community. You’ll also support them in their day-to-day life.
Day-to-day activity includes personal care, meal preparation, general domestic duties and helping the people we support attend medical appointments. No single day is the same for disability support worker jobs.
Find out from Sylvanvale support workers Shane and Abby what they enjoy about their careers, what’s involved and some tips for dealing with the more challenging parts of the role.
What checks do I need for NDIS employment?
As part of the pre-employment process, you are required to conduct a Criminal History Record Check, NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children Check (if applicable). Support Workers also need a valid Australian Drivers Licence and First Aid Certificate.
