We are excited to have recently become a sponsor of the Sutherland Titans Football Club.
The Titans cater for junior and senior players with disability from the Sutherland Shire, St George and other areas.
The club is the embodiment of inclusion, being built on the notion of football for all.
Each week, the Titans play in mainstream competitions against teams with a bye, who have a week off from their regular competition.
Titans players are encouraged to play independently but, where necessary, buddies accompany them on the field, to facilitate full participation in the game. The buddies are volunteers from the community – giving families the opportunity to take a break and cheer from the sidelines.
Sylvanvale’s sponsorship has helped the Titans with program costs including equipment and uniforms.
Sylvanvale is thrilled with the partnership. According to CEO, Leanne Fretten: “As two community organisations with a shared vision of inclusion for people with disability, sponsoring the Titans was a natural fit.”
The Titans are equally pleased. Titans FC President, George Lazarou, said: “We are thrilled to have Sylvanvale’s support. It’s great when organisations get behind us to support the inclusion of people with disability in mainstream sport. Inclusive sport brings benefits to everyone who is part of it, with both sides coming away feeling good.”
