NDIS Changes FAQ
Navigating the NDIS reforms can feel overwhelming, especially with changes being introduced. To help you stay informed and confident, we’ve put together answers to some of the most common questions we’re hearing from the people we support, families and nominees.
The NDIS reforms are a series of legislative and policy changes being introduced progressively between 2026 and 2028. They include changes to planning arrangements, funding approaches, provider requirements and participant processes.
No. The current funding changes are being introduced progressively as plans are created, reassessed or renewed. This means not everyone will be affected at the same time.
The current changes apply to:
- Social, Economic and Community Participation supports 50% reductions.
- Improved Daily Living Skills supports 10% reductions.
No. The NDIA has advised that not all supports within these categories are affected.
Supports relating to employment, disability-related health supports, high intensity supports and intensive and complex behaviour supports are excluded from the reductions. Essential day-to-day supports such as personal care, nursing supports and medication assistance are also not affected.
Funding changes began applying to newly created and reassessed plans from 1 October 2026 and will begin applying to renewals from 1 February 2027.
We recommend contacting Sylvanvale as soon as possible so we can discuss your individual circumstances and help you prepare for upcoming conversations with the NDIA.
