Sylvanvale’s new state-of-the-art properties in Bangor for people with disability, have won the ‘Special Purpose Housing’ category at the 2023 Master Builders Association of NSW Excellence in State Awards. These are New South Wales’ most prestigious residential building awards.
The State Housing award trophy was presented to the project’s builders, Vista Build, alongside representatives from Sylvanvale and Vic Lake Architects at a ceremony in Sydney on Saturday 16 September 2023.
Vista Build was selected by Sylvanvale to construct the properties, following a detailed tender process. The dwellings were designed for Sylvanvale by award-winning architecture firm, Vic Lake Architects.
The properties, which welcomed their first residents in 2022, comprise six homes that accommodate eight people eligible for Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). They have been designed to support people with significant disabilities to live in their own home with as much independence as possible.
Sylvanvale CEO, Leanne Fretten, said: “We are thrilled that our state-of-the-art, properties in Bangor, and Vista Build, have been recognised in this way. Vista Build did an incredible job bringing the project to life.”
“We’re already working on our next project to create high-quality housing options that offer independence and inclusion for people with disability.”
Vista Build Director, Thomas Allouche, said: “Winning the award on Saturday night was a remarkable achievement for us, but it is a true testament to the vision and design from Sylvanvale and Vic Lake Architects. These homes have set a new benchmark for Specialist Disability Accommodation and all NDIS Homes.”
“Before we started construction, I remember Sylvanvale saying to me that they wanted to build the best house on the street because that’s what their residents deserve. I would say that they nailed the brief, and we are really appreciative that we were able to be a part of the process. We have built a strong relationship with Sylvanvale and Vic Lake and we look forward to working on many future projects together.”
