Clinical Services

Here to support people to thrive

Sylvanvale’s Clinical Services team provides Positive Behaviour Support to people living with disability. We partner with individuals, their families, and support teams to build skills, strengthen communication, and improve quality of life.

Our approach

Every person we support is unique, and so are our Behaviour Support Plans.

We take the time to understand a person’s goals, strengths, communication style, and daily environment so that the support we provide is meaningful, practical, and sustainable.

We work closely with physiotherapists, speech therapists, school teams, families, and other providers. This collaborative approach ensures each person receives holistic support because we know that behaviour never exists in isolation.

Most importantly, we empower the people who are there every day: families, educators, support coordinators, and support workers. By upskilling and educating the people involved in your day-to-day care, we can ensure that you can continue to work toward your goals even when we aren’t there with you.

How we work with you

  • We come to you across Greater Sydney and the Blue Mountains. Our practitioners spend time onsite with site managers and support teams, as well as out in the community with you, to observe, collaborate, and create strategies that work in real life.
  • Support can also be delivered via video conferencing, phone, or at our Sutherland head office.

What makes us different

Clear, accessible behaviour support plans

We make our plans easy to understand so they can be used confidently by everyone involved in your support.

We spend time on the ground

Our practitioners work closely with your support team, ensuring strategies are grounded in the real environment where support takes place.

Improving communication is a priority

We actively look for ways to strengthen communication skills to reduce the need for behaviours of concern as a communication strategy.

Relationships come first

We take the time to build trust with you, your family, and your support workers. Support works best when you feel understood and respected.

Empowering the whole support network

We are not the only solution. We teach and guide the people who support you every day, creating consistent, lasting positive change.

How do I know if I have Behaviour Support Funding in my NDIS Plan?

Not every participant is funded for behaviour support, but everyone can ask for it.

If your National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) plan contains one of the following line items, you have behaviour support funding.

Item Number Item Name
11_022_0110_7_3 Capacity Building – Improved Relationships: Specialist Behavioural Intervention Support
11_023_0110_7_3 Capacity Building – Improved Relationships: Behaviour Management Plan Including Training in Behaviour Management Strategies

How can I get behaviour support if I don’t already have it?

To get behaviour support in your NDIS Plan, you will need to provide evidence of the need for it and have an improved relationships goal. You can ask for behaviour support by:

  • Mentioning it in your NDIS planning meeting
  • Requesting it in your plan review
  • Applying for an Unscheduled Review to ask for behaviour support.
